Assuming all other components are operational, it sounds like you have a freon leak and need to recharge the system after/if the leak is found and repaired.
Sometimes it's cheaper to recharge the system if/when the leak can not be readily located and repaired.
This is something you can do only if you have the knowledge, license and access to the specialty tools and materials to do the job.
In the meantime, you should turn the system OFF until repairs can be made to prevent from damaging the system.
