I took a look at the ASHI website, (the A thru me off), but they have no one in my area, but thanks for posting it.

I did manage to find an energy audit company near me that will be coming in to take a look around. I believe its around $300 CDN for them to come in. I understand it's somewhat subsidised by the government.

I'll let you know what he has to say.

Hope you get a good break...we all should considering we actually think about saving energy.

Everyone should be considering an energy audit , it WILL save you money in the long run to find out the huge amounts of energy venting to the atmosphere....from your home

Just think about that attic fan not insulated in the winter, or the pull down staircase ...and those recessed lights.....and the flue to the chimney...just because its closed does not mean your air is not doing its impersonation of a tornado on a cold night.

1/4 inch steel is not insulation.

I know I'll see a savings after the inspection. I have quite an old home (built in 1889) that is still 'orignal' for the most part. I even have a fireplace with no flue!! I gotta find one of those flue ballon thingys to block it off.

I have a lot of areas to improve, but I am expecting the audit to help prioritize the tasks, for most bang for my buck.
