How are remote receivers installed on ceiling fans? Is it directly wired at the joints in the ceiling box?

Receiver is usually in the bottom where the light kit is attached.

what's the color scheme of the receiver's wires?

Been too long ago for me to remember but the directions were with the remote.

just meddling here. anyone know why the instructions say not to use with hugger type fans? just no room for it or something more?

the vast majority are mounted in ceiling canopy.

Next time I see a remote up there in the canopy, I'll sue. What sort of lame brain design is this to cram a cellphone sized contraption in the space where wires should not be pinched or stressed? I will advise my friends against using these things in the future.
