I need to make a dishwasher power cord.

New DW specs:
12a/1450w
Min 14g 167ºf

Current house wiring:
dedicated 20a circuit [12g]
15a split receptacle [w/disposal]

Q: Can I use ±6' of SJOOW [300v] & add a 15a plug? [the other end = pigtail to DW]

Q: 14/3 [18a] or 12/3 [25a] Is there any reason not to use 12/3 over 14/3? [most DW cords I see are 16/3]

Asked a simple question and got a correct and simple answer.
Never heard of a DW cord, most of what I have seen are hardwired with romex.
Cord whips can be used for just about anything, call them what you want.

Hey, 888 . . . DW whips are readily available at Home Depot. I have used 12/2 Romex but you MUST have proper connectors for the box under the dishwasher. NEVER leave the "cord" or Romex flapping against the sharp edges of the hole in the box. New dishwashers come with snap-in connectors or you can use syandard 3/8" connectors . . .
