First step would be to clear out EVERYTHING you dont need, just throw it out or give it away-
you will feel great! give the room a good cleaning and try to organize as much as you can.

Whatever color you decide to do test it out first...basement lighting is always tricky and
paint can look really different on a wall then the sample. Especially if you decide to go gray.

you should check your paint out. It could cause mold unless you have excellent ventilation.
