  Thanx for the advice ......the biggest thing for me is being confident enough to put the
  cabinets up myself and countertops....I may just have to bite the bullet and pay for expert
  install

  Yeah, I thought about that.....if I redo the kitchen I will just gut it down to the studs and

  That sounds good, and the fan is literally a half foot from the roof so it would be traveling
  about 4 feet less than it is now out the soffit.....and of course up rather than over and down.

  He told me the first time that its from nothing he did but rather its the shifting of the
  house.....which I'm not buying since he repaired it and used his own paint to fix it for free.
