If you are adverse to granite then look at Silestone or one of the other Quartz based products.
I've used both and both have held up extremely well.

You can make straight cuts on the corner bead. I have used both nails and screws. Both work

You can attach the tile directly to the concrete floor, however if there are cracks or it is
unlevel, first apply a leveling agent.
