try disconnecting the wire going out from it then reset it if it resets then you have a ground

they are wood alright you can tell by the grain if you want a real nice job strip them to bare

how are you testing for power? if you try across the thermostat wires you will get nothing

if i may i think your condensation problem comes from the fact that cold air is hitting the
wall from the outside causing the moisture inside to condense on the wall . before you

i would suggest you use a double pole double throw switch connect the thermostat in the middle

assuming you just want to control the power get a small electronic timer and a 30a 2pole
contactor feed the power thru the contactor and control the contactor with the timer hope this
helps
