If done properly you should have only one GFCI outlet per circuit. If not correctly installed

Hmm if you are going to staple an extension cord along the beam and down the wall why not do
the same thing with Romex? You just enter the box with the receptacle you were going to plug

You can pull off this receptacle as long as you use the constant power and its neutral (white)
I would think it was the red seeing how the bottom you say is switched, but wouldn't count on
