The screws are about 2" long wood screws, typical to a TV mounting kit. The building super is
out of town so I think I'm going to have to talk to him about this. Thanks for the tips.

It's mostly smooth. There are several patch jobs and about a half inch of paint from multiple
repaints. The stud finder I have is one of the cheaper ones. Aren't studs 2x4s?These walls are

I just moved into a building in NYC that was built in the late 60s and I wanted to mount my 42"
