Thanks! You are correct I believe. I fiddled with the connection area, and the water started gushing out. I shut off the cold water, took off the flex hose, and I'm going to replace it.

Do I plaster this, then paint it?

Hi, great forum!

I removed a chunk of the wall because if was moldy/corroded, etc.

I am not sure how to go about repairing it. It appears to be plaster, with a beige paint over top of it....
