a normal CFL bulb has a a lifespan of 16,000 hour..if you use it more every day, it is sure that the lifespan would be less than the rated lifespan of the bulb

i suggest replace those switches, if the switch is not available anymore, i think it is old enough and done it's job already. maybe it is not that sturdy anymore so just buy a new toggle or button...
