what can i use to take up space when pouring concrete

I'm building concrete stairs about 7 feet wide and going down 3 feet so about 3-4 steps. That would be a lot of concrete to pour so can I put bricks or cinderblocks in the form to take up the volume?...

I would love to tear down this little wall. I know it's not structural but have no idea why the builders put it there. I was thinking perhaps plumbing ran down but it's just a bedroom directly above...

My crawl basement currently has one submersible sump pump and a smaller, hose connected pedestal sump pump.
I'm having flooding issues in parts of the basement that are far away from those pumps so...

Home value question: Keep small room or open up space?

It's a 4br 2.5 bath, 2 story house. Everything is upstairs except for the guest bathroom and a tiny room right next to the main entrance.
