what about white?

My sister lives out in the country and got sick of all the red barns, too. She decided to paint her barn white, to match the house. It really brightened up her property and it looks nice, too.

you may want to call your local nursery

You may try giving your local nursery a call and explain your problem to them. I've heard that grubs may cause this and also a lack of airation (sp?). I would definitely call around and get some...
