36" door to 30" door

I'm going to replace a 36" door (already removed it and it's frame) with a 30" prehung door. the "rough opening" right now is 38" and this has to come down to a rough opening of 32" for the new door. can I "retrofit" this rough opening without ripping things apart to accomodate a new jack and king stud?

Nothing structural to worry about just fill it up with what have you.

Adding two 2x4s on each side of the opening will bring you down to 32".

Or if you are cheap like me use up all the short ends of 2x4’s you have stacked up in the corner of your garage and save the nice full length ones for when you need them.
