One time My toast trigger the smoke detector. Since it is chained, all smoke detectors are loud alarming.
- I took all smoke detectors down and replaced battery.
- Second day (12 hours after took them off), I tried to put one back and connect the 3 pin wire; And once the wire connected, the smoke detector Loud alarm again.
- Even I did reset the smoke detectors
- Install any single one
- or tried to use new one.

Anything I did above, once it connects to the 3 pin wire, it will alarm.

Could be some short wire or something I did wrong?

If no solution, is ok to change all to the battery operated one?

Thanks in advance

Battery powered smoke detectors have the advantage of working even if the electrical is affected by a fire. I would change them all to battery units.

Some building codes require hard wired smoke detectors with battery back up. If you've changed the batteries and still get an alarm, you may just have a dirty detector. Not usually an issue with ionization but sometimes with photo electric detectors. They're all interconnected so when on goes off, all will. You can try cleaning them with canned air or a vacuum cleaner.
