I have a well that feeds my house. I'm turning the upstairs of my free-standing garage into an apartment and need to get water to it. Should I T off the waterline before it gets to the house? ...or bring it from the house to the garage after the pressure tank? The line is about 6' down and inside of 4" PVC pipe.
 
Do you have a check valve at the tank, or anywhere else in the line?
 
How will water pressure be achieved if you don't tap in after the pressure tank?
I suspect you'll burn up the pump if you tap into it before the tank.

It all depends it there is a check valve and if there is where it it...
