I've been the two local small engine shops in my area and asked about fuel / oil mixtures for my very old Homelite chainsaw. One guy said to use the 16:1 ratio that the owner's manual calls for, the other said that with the improved quality of 2-cycle oil, I should be using the universal mix that everyone uses today. He even suggested that I used the pre-mixed 50:1 hi-test that comes in a can.
So, what do you think????:confused::confused:

How often do you use this saw?
Always follow the manufacturers suggestions.
Find a place that sells non ethanol fuel for far less fuel issues.
Use to much oil and your going to end up with fouled up plug and hard starting.
Ethanal fuel soaks up moisture from the air and will distrory the fuel lines and plug up the carb.
I only mix up a gal. at a time so it does not go bad.
I own 2, chain saws, three weed wackers, 2 blowers and they all start every time, just from switching to nonethenal fuel.

I have a chain saw, back pack blower, and tiller that are 2 cycle. I follow the manufacturers directions as to mix ratio and have no issues.
FWIW
YMMV
