I have a Trane XL 1200 outside. Yesterday when it was 100 degrees I heard a couple of squeaks that sounded curious. Later in the day the fan stopped turning, and the compressor started making a buzzing sound (not sure if the buzzing sound was there before when the fan was running).

What could this be? Thanks
 
bad capacitor most likely or bad fan motor. The compressor will overheat without the fan running.
