Hi,

As stated, am a newbie. Work maintenance in a high-rise. If there's any questions I can help with, fire away, I'll answer if I can.

Now for my question.........I'm a new home-owner and I want to replace my forced-air, natural gas furnace. If I get the permits, can I do the installation myself?

Welcome CBF:
Kentucky has established a HVAC licensing law ('92or '93). If you get a permit to install your own it still must be done exactly to code and be inspected upon completion. If your job includes A/C also, you must have a certification card that allows you to handle refrigerants.
I would recommend that you look up a dealer in Goodman (the parent company) or Janitrol (one of their consumer brands) and get a bid from them. Getting bids from 3 companies is not unreasonable and would help you to get the best deal.
Merry Christmas
Glenn
