Hello, hope some has a good suggestion. I have a few windows that are not under eves and they all are leaking to some degree. How is best to fix this. I am inherently lazy, so re-caulking every year is not really working. On is particuarly challenging because it is partially covered, so it almost funnels the water onto the window. Photos are attached.
THANKS for any ideas.
Paul

-----Welcome to the forums!---------

You have cedar "drop" siding applied vertically, they are boards with a lap/overlap on the edges. IMO, remove the top trim piece, cut the siding to height that permits 2 metal flashing pieces, one above the trim and on below. The ends of both pieces should be bent closed to form a dam so water doesn't run to the window jambs; pp 8;here; http://www.mtcc1170.com/images/BCRainScreen.pdf Pretend the "G" is your trim piece and "C" is the window on pp. 18, but both flashing only go under the siding, not any sheathing. Be sure to install under the tar paper and bend to 110* for optimal water drain. Treat the end grain after cutting siding to protect from capillarity yet allow water to drain. Figure to add some "kick-out" flash; http://www.finehomebuilding.com/200...-flash-troublesome-roof-to-wall-intersections

Questions?

Wow, that is great! I was getting depressed. Thank you. As I look at the link, I see a few doors I may as well knock out as well.

Thanks again. Hope you are having a good weekend.
