No, you don't normilly have to back prime just in moisture area's and you can buy preprimed moulding's, there as common as bread and butter then you just install, caulk and fill and sand, then 2 coats of trim paint and your all set 
By the way I always paint the trim first then walls that way the caulking that you use between the trim and wall is painted.
