So I apparently burned out my shop vac motor due to dust. Does anyone have any experience with dust collectors? Am I destined to sweep my shop floor forever?

Thanks.

Here's some Nextag dust collector prices

so half cost between $280 and $450; prices outside this range may be suspect.

I guess you want to maximize hp and minimize noise level and price.
DBs of noise level are meaningless without the measurement distance stated.

You could first compute hp/$ and then look for minimum dBs within this max hp per $ subgroup. The asterisks mark the top three candidates for hp/price.
