Hello, I am replacing a section of my pole barn's steel ridge vent over a steel ribbed roof. I noticed while pulling off the old metal ridge vent that there appears to be foam strips that were attached between the ridge vent and the roof surface, and match the profile of the roofs ribbed contours. The old foam is in rough shape so I would like to replace it with new material. I assume the foam helps with the ventilation of the barn so I don't want to skip this step.

I've looked online at Home Depot and Lowes and It seems that no stores carry this product (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Closure-...Foam-Ridge-Vent-Each-CV1-Classic-EA/206480900). Does anyone know where I can find this, or an alternative product that functions the same way and is readily available? Thanks in advance!

Do you mean something like this? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Suntuf-36-in-Horizontal-Foam-Closure-Strips-5-Pack-92520/100078282

or http://www.homedepot.com/p/Palruf-36-in-White-Horizontal-Foam-Closure-Strips-5-Pack-92521/100049309

or http://www.homedepot.com/p/Closure-...Ridge-Vent-4-Pack-CV1-Classic-4PACK/206481869

I know they sell wood strips with wave patterns that make it easier to place corrugated panels. It is sometimes called "wiggle board". When I googled, I found this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Palruf-2...s-5-Pack-92823/100042788?keyword=wiggle+board

Are any of those what you are looking for?

Attached are some pictures of what they look like, up close and installed on the roof under the ridge cap. Their only about 1 inch wide and they were long pieces originally but they have disintegrated over the years and have broken apart in the narrow ribbed sections. If there's something else I can use that is more readily available at home centers please let me know as I have it all taken apart at this point. Thanks again!

You can get them at ABC Roofing supply, they have hundreds of location in th US. Try Menards, heck, you can probably buy foam cloursres from Amazon.

My local Lowes sells them and have them in stock. See if they can be ordered.

Ok I found a local hardware store that sells it! I noticed that the ribbed sections are spread further apart on the new foam than on the original pieces so I may have to cut them up so that they fit in the ribs better. Also is the foam supposed to be glued to the roof at all, or just drive the fastener through the ridge cap and roof and sandwich the foam between it?

It's possible that the old stuff was not ribbed at all, but took on that shape after being compressed for years... no expert here, just guessing.
And as i recently read in another thread, there are different ribbed patterns for diff sheet metal roofs. Maybe someone here can get into a little more depth on that and guide you to a more accurate view of what to look for.
