I am framing my basement and need to add a soffit around a pipe and around the heating vents, both things are right next to the walls. Should I drywall the walls and then build the soffits then drywall the soffits, or build the soffits and then drywall everything at the same time.
 
I would complete the walls first and then build the soffits.

And I would say the other way around, but I guess I should ask: "What the advantages and disadvantages of each way?"
 
from what I have read if you drywall first and then build the soffit, it helps with staying in code of fireblocking the walls more easily. Thought I would get everyone's opinion on this before I started drywalling.
