Hello! I have wood floors with poly cover that were put in about 8 years ago. All of it is just dandy except for the wood around my front windows (sliding glass doors) where all the sun comes through in my condo. So figure a two foot patch from the window where the sun has beat through the poly. I want to put protection over this before it gets worse...but without touching the rest of the place. Let me see if I can frame this question correctly

How wise would it be to lightly sand the small area and put a coat of poly on? I know the risk that it would be uneven looking, but I seem to have it in my pee-brain that it can be done.
Any suggestions?
