I have those l950's Youngstown white metal cabinets in my newly bought l950's ranch. They have a great look to them, but I have no dishwasher. Yikes. I hate to cut into these metal cabinets, yet even the dishdrawers are too wide to put them inside the cabinet area. If I move the frig, maybe i can put the dishwasher there. Now here's the question: Can the plumbing be made to go behind cabinets? Second question, if you please- anyone have ideas on how to make the slightly dull white cabinets a bit whiter?

You can probably go through the side of the sink cabinet to route your plumbing. It won't be seen when you slide the washer in place.

To brighten the finish, you could try a light rubbing compound, followed by a wax. I'm assuming these are enamel-coated?

that's the question Quattro- I wonder if the plumber will be able to go through lets say 3 cabinets worth of metal...??
