Does anyone have a suggestion for a Yard that is clay mixed with rock. Or maybe I should say rock mixed with clay. In the past I've used a slit seeder to reseed other yards but in this yard the rocks & yard size (2.5 acres) I think a slit seeder wouldn't work. So I am wondering if there is a seed I can use as a overseed that will take hold & grow in this poor soil. I'm in Jefferson County, Missouri.

Wow, this is an old post. I would aerate in the fall then immediately overseed with a good Kentucky Blue 'blend.' (I'm thinking you're in zone 5 or 6.) Aerating first will allow seeds to settle and plugged soil to redistribute. This link might help you pick out the right grass seed.
And mulch instead of bag. It'll help build a good nutrient rich soil base.
