Default advice/technique

I have an aluminum garage door previously painted with a latex flat house paint that has become faded and chalky. I want to repaint, but am wondering if I need to strip the previous coat of paint off before I re-paint with a latex exterior gloss, or will a pressure wash do before repainting?

Anyone have any thoughts?

If the paint is not flaking at all, I would think pressure washing would do the trick..... but I would go a step further and give it a light coat of primer before painting.
