Hello everyone my mother in law asked me to post this question. When her gas furnace first comes on it makes a loud bang as if being hit by a hammer, sounds like metal.....any ideas? thanks:mad:
 
Get your gas company furnace repair guy out there ASAP.
That loud bang is called an explosion inside the furnace. If it rattles the rafters...get help now.:D

My loud metallic bang was a cracked heat exchanger. Expanding when heated. Dangerous problem.
