I've seen lines of tiny black ants that don't bite crawling in trough t crack in one of my windows. I see a few of them crawling on my computers. I also see them eating bits of food. Once I left a zebra cake wrapped in plastic (It wasn't sealed though) the next day I put it in my lunch box with out thinking and I found a ton of these ants eating my lunch. This has been going on for like, 3 months. How do I get them out of my house without getting a pest control specialist?? Also will they hurt my computer?? Please Help.
 
Get some Terro ant bait or the paste. The will be hundreds of ants drawn to it at first so do not panic, There going to bring some back to the queen, once she eats it the nest will die out.
 
Pepper is a good way to get rid of ants. Ants hate the stuff. Just pour a line of pepper down and they won't cross it. In addition to pepper, they don't like Cayenne pepper either. You can mix Borax with sugar water, and place it where they can access it. It will poison them. You can also pour Cream of Wheat in a container where they can access it; they'll eat it but won't be able to digest it.
 
In 33 years I haven't had the black ants like we did where I grew up. I think it may be because of the fire ants I am constantly fighting. I may be able to send you some if you want them.
 
I like non-pesticide approaches. If that doesn't work, then I nuke 'em.

1. Diatomaceous earth is ground up prehistoric shells. Causes ants to dehydrate.

2. Boric acid is deadly because the ants suck the acid into their lungs and die a terrible death. Effective and affordable.

Also, eliminate sources of water and food . . . especially water for black ants. :p
 
Everytime an ant pile shows up in my yard, I use Cream of Wheat. It's cheap and very effective. They bring it down to the queen and expload because they can't digest it. Safe for kids, pets, amd MIL's.
 
Well seriously a better home made suggestion would be pepper just like BMartin said. Though he gave so many homemade suggestions too but try pouring pepper as an experiment. :)
