Greetings,

Does anyone seen an issue with connecting a water downspout to the same drain that's used by the sump pump? The plan was to connect the two with a "Y" connection. I hope there will not be back pressure issues during heavy rains trying to suck water out of the sump pit?

The sump pump drain goes to a water run off (not the city sewer). Please go easy, this is my first post.

I don't see why you would want to tie the two together and it is possible that the "Y' could not handle the volume of a heavy rain and to have the downspout suck water from the sump crock would not be a bad thing at all but, not likely.

My concern would be an obstrution after they joined and thus the down spout backing up towards the sump pump and thus over filling the sump.
