Hello all i'm new to the diy forum. I have done a lot of remodeling to my house, mostly by myself. However, after pulling up old carpet, lin. and tile, we found huge cracks in the foundation. I'm confused and concerned about putting tile down and it cracking. I really want tile rather than wood, and anyone who's had experience with this share some information please.
Thanks

If the cracks are in-plane you can still tile over the slab.
If the cracks are out of plane, or unlevel. Then you can't tile.

I would suggest installing Ditra underlayment over the slab before tiling.
This helps with expansion and contraction.
