i went to paint the ceiling after spakling over the old plaster when sanding the ceiling was hard and in tact once primed the ceiling cracked and all the spakle fell down why

If I understand your post ... The plaster might be loose in your ceiling and by pressing on the spackle you caused it to crack again and fall out.
Try pressing gently on the ceiling to see if it is loose. If so, you might need to remove the loose plaster and re-plaster properly.
