I have a fireplace that had a gas line at some point. I want to fix the hole and use the firepace . The hole is maybe 1 to 1.5 inch, How much cement will it need to be used? The guy at lowes gave me a small bag of ready to mix cement add water some cement adhesive
 
Should use furnace cement. Regular cement may not hold up to high heat of fireplace.

Lowes carries it in the Plumbing section. Comes in half gallon bucket already premixed.
