Wow, I am glad for this site! I just turned 60 this weekend, I am a mechanical engineer by trade, but home repair & remodeling has been my hobby for the last 5 years. My wife and I have been slowly redoing our abode and yard, time and money permitting. I have done it all myself, with the exception being stucco and brick walls and HVAC work, which I leave to the more experienced. Other than that I have done all of the following: tile (both floor & wall), plumbing, electrical, interior walls and sheetrock, painting, window and door replacement, etc. etc. I have learned a lot doing this, and hopefully I can pass along some of what I have encountered. I even did concrete countertops.
