Hello, we have a house in VA (built in 1920) that has cracks in the foundation and in the plaster on the interior. I'd like to get the foundation/soil evaluated before fixing the foundation/plaster to make sure we stop any root problems (i.e.movement), but I'm not sure who to call. It seems like if I call the people who fix foundation problems they might want to sell me services instead of giving an honest opinion. Has anyone done this? Who is the best person to call? Any other advice is welcome. Thank you!
EDIT: I should mention to that we have a column that seems to be leaning, so other structural issues we want to have looked at. Maybe an engineer of some sort. I have no idea! =)
