When it rains, the water from the roof on the second level of the house concentrates and drips on one spot on a shingle on the lower roof.

Is the shingle that's hit by the rain water going to wearing out faster than the other shingles?

If so, is there a way to slow it down?

Thanks a lot!

It can cause wear spots, either a piece of flashing, or better is a gutter with a downspout to the ground, away from the house is the way to fix it.

Thanks InspectorD!

Is it a viable solution to put another shingle on top of the existing one?

You could put a sacraficial shingle there I guess...never thought of it.
Post a picture when your done, just so we can remark if need be.
