If a contractor has to repair a small section of your hardwood floors, does he have to refinish the whole room too? We just want that small section fixed and we're trying to get price quotes. This one contractor said he has to refinish the whole room so the section will match the rest of the wood. But the other parts of the room are fine. Is this standard?

If its a newer floor and if its a pre-finished wood floor and if the style/color is still made and if its still available hen it is possible to repair just the damaged sections.
