Just bought a small lake house that needs some TLC. First thing I am doing is ripping out all the carpet and flooring. My assumption is that there is standard plywood subfloor. I want to seal the floor with something before I put down any new flooring. I was thinking about using something like Kilz. Does anyone have a better idea?

Let me guess--previous owner had lots of pets and not enough time to house-train them.

There some sealers for that, it can be hard to get ahead of this stuff if the smell is in the bottom of the walls too.

I don't think it has made it to the walls. There seems to be one main area with stain and smell. Any suggestions on the best sealer?

If you googe every product for this, you will find people who have success and failure with all of them. Kilz ,Zinsser and a few more I can't think of at the moment. I think shellac base is part of the answer.
