My garbage disposal is leaking water out the bottom via the wire connection area and from another small opening on the bottom. Is it worth trying to take apart or would I be wasting my time. Should I just replace it. It is an Emerson.
 
The shaft seal has failed...

It is time for a new one...

I would suggest looking at the Insinkerator Evolution Product Line for a replacement.
