When my washing machine is in the spinning cycle it is very very loud, What could cause this?

If it's the kind with a clutch, it will make lots of noise when the clutch shoes wear out. They can be replaced.
 
If it is a GE you need to check for water leaks because most of the time when they get noisy like that the tub seal is leaking water. To check this remove the front and start the washer then look at the bottom of the tub where the transmission enters. Watch for a leak and if it does leak you will need to replace the transmission to fix it. Transmissions are expensive and require special tools to replace you may want to consider a new washer.
