Refrigator cooling Problem

HI, Mine stop running and we noticed a burnt smell. We unplugged it and got a replacement for a while and now we no longer have replacement so we tried fixing it. The part that had burnt up was the starter relay..we replaced it and its coming on but isnt cooling?It seems like air isnt being pushed through or something...plz help!

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm if not compressor isn't working.




Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Ice Dispenser
Open the door and hold the door switch down and try the ice dispenser. Do you hear any thing. Take all the ice out of the bin and try. Anything? Take the bin out and try. Anything? The motor is behind the back cover where the bin sits. See if you get power to it using a voltmeter. If your are, probably bad motor. If not dispenser switch.




Cold air enters the fridge through a damper or vent between the freezer and fridge. The evaporator fan in or behind the freezer blows the air through. There is an adjustment to open and close this vent to allow more or less cold air in.
