We had some high winds today. A bolt on our awning came loose and the wind was making the corner of the awning slam against our house. I can push the bolt back into the hole but it just spins when I try to tighten it. The bolt hole is in the mortar between bricks. I'm not handy at all. Any tips on fixing this? I could screw something above it on the next mortar line if there is no hope for the worn out current hole. Thanks for any help or tips.

There are lead and plastic plugs you can put in a hole to screw into or for a quick fix something like 3 or 4 matchsticks in the hole might work.

A larger bolt and anchor for the larger hole?

And it might seem a bit obvious but make sure all of your repairs are aluminum or something similarly suitable for outside. Sometimes awnings/patio materials can corrode and you definitely don't want that.

Post a picture for better replies.
If someone just used a Tap Con to attach it's not going to hold.
