Hey Folks. Thanks for the great forum.

I've got an interior wall between my kitchen and bedroom that rises 2 feet short of the ceiling (so you could toss a sock, ie, from the kitchen into the bedroom.) Weird setup, but i bought the condo that way.

Anyhow, I want to close the gap by framing and putting drywall on to make a single, normal wall. The existing wall, which is painted drywall on both sides, is 5 1/2 inches in thickness.

Since that's an inch or so thinner than a typical 2x4 wall, what's my best move? Should I just rip an inch off a 2x6 (5 1/2 inches) and use 1/2 drywall?

Thanks, Eli
