Hi,

I have a few bricks on my front porch where the brick is no longer attached to the front step. So i went out and bought some mortar and re-attached the brick..........i did remove the old mortar before putting brick back on.

My question is this: The new mortar and the old mortar...........not even close in color. If figured they would not match in color but one is an off-white (older mortar) and the new one is "light grey"...........the light-grey stands out.

What should i have done, or is there anything i could have done, do better match the mortar colors.

The reason i ask is i have a few brick to re-attach on the back steps and i dont want to make the same mistake if i can help it.

You are making a judgement too quickly, since all cement based materials change colors as the age and cure. It just tales a little longer than watching paint dry.
