What about block windows? I have a window in the shower in the house we just moved into and I HATE IT. The wood is peeling, and I'm sure there are lots of problems there. The tile needs to be replaced too, and I was thinking about installing a block window with a small vent in the middle for circulation when I did that instead of a pane window.

Installing a glass-block window in a shower, if properly done, would be functional and practical. And using acrylic instead of true glass blocks means you can make the opening just about any size you want.

Years ago I built a partial shower wall for a client using glass block. The blocks were a bugger to work with (getting the special mortar to stick was a challenge), but the project turned out quite nicely for the homeowners.
