insulation plus copper.

Did HD make money on selling lights where the insulation has some defect that makes it attractive to pests,
or
are the squirrels especially hungry this year?

It was only on 6 hrs out of 24 so they probably were not shocked.

Squirrels just like to chew on just about anything. What I do is to try to play tag with them, yea they catch ok but never throw the lead back at me.

:D
For rabbits, cats and squirrels I have a slingshot.

For home invasion I have a shiny metal device that can propel up to six lead pellets, one at a time, at almost the speed of sound. It works by using the rapid combustion of a powder.
For the lead being thrown back at me  I guess I should invest in a Kevlar vest.

I looked some more in the grass and found a bulb all by itself, the wires chewed off flush with the bottom of the socket.
This will take some soldering and heat shrink tubing to fix.
