We are building storage shed.

A friend is giving away used galvanized roofing.

It has screw holes on every 12 inches or less...

can we reuse these roofing?

if yes How can we patch these holes?

Also can we put these 2.3" x 12' galvanized roofing panels directly on rafters?

You strap across the rafters with 2x4s to suport the roofing. If you strap it 12" on center you might be able to use the old holes.

You could use a dab of Alumaseal on the holes but, you would have to maintenance them every 5yrs. or so.

If the value of the shed's contents is important - is worth more than the roofing panels, then you should not fool around with a potentially leaky roof.

Pop rivets with rubber washers then metal washers on the underside. Then it's your labor at whatever rate you charge
vs. the value of punctured sheets
vs. the cost of new sheets.
