I bought a house that was built in 1956 and the wiring does not have a ground! I called an electrician and asked about running new wire to the present outlets. He informed me that alot of the houses there were built in the 50's ran their wiring around the walls instead of down the walls! I want to know how I can find this to be true or not. He said it could drop a wire and put and cut a whole in the sheetrock and mount a floating recep box. I would prefer to use the old boxes if possible. If anyone can offer information from previous experience I would be most grateful!

Do you have baseboard trim boards? Sometimes i take off a trim board so i can drill a hole at a angle into the craw hole and fish a wire up the wall, then put trim board back on. If you have a craw space you can tell by looking if the wires go down. normally they
go around in the wall. Later Paul
